Most of what I do is unglamorous: deliverability, list hygiene, pipeline logic, and the automation that sends the right message to the right person at the right time, on the right channel. It's the work nobody sees, and it's the reason the numbers hold up when someone checks them.
I think marketing should help people, not trick them. Done right, it's mostly about sending fewer, more relevant messages to people who actually want them, on a system that runs itself. When that's in place, the business grows and the audience is glad to be on the list. That's the whole job.
